Somewhere in the Fifty States

Now that Emma Grace is older and in her words wiser we can really sit down and have some heart to heart conversations. Some of them just crack me up! For example, this is a conversation we had today as we were discussing plans for her upcoming 5th birthday party.

EG: Mom, what does expensive mean?

Me: It means that something costs a lot of money.

EG: Does everyone have to buy all of their stuff or do some people just get it.

Me: Usually they have to buy it.

EG: Everyone in the whole world even other countries.

Me: Yes baby, everyone.

EG: So that means people in China, Alaska, and New Mexico.

This was about the time that I realized we needed to work more on our geography skills and less on our shopping skills. I do not want my little girl to be one of the, oh so many, that still don't realize that New Mexico is one of the fifty states. If you don't believe me, move there and try to order something over the phone and then laugh when they tell you that they don't ship international. I promise you this happened to me at least five times while we lived there.

Love this story! Maybe we'll look for a globe for her b-day!
